BME specialists choose Notting Hill Housing as merger partner

Press release December 17, 2008 Business

Notting Hill Housing has been chosen as a preferred merger partner.

Notting Hill Housing has been chosen by the Boards of two Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) specialist housing organisations as their preferred merger partner. The intention is for both Pathway and Croydon Peoples Housing Associations to become part of the Notting Hill Group from 1 April 2009. CPHA and Pathways are fully supportive of Notting Hill's growth strategy to build a strong community-based South London subsidiary to deliver new homes and communities that work.

John Brewster, Chair of Pathway, stated the reasons for the choice of Notting Hill, "the Board believes this to be an excellent opportunity to improve service delivery to tenants. In particular we want to sustain and expand the support and care services provided to BME and other disadvantaged groups within south London communities".

Akin Adepoju, Chair of CPHA, believes that the move will protect the association and enable it to grow "Being part of the Notting Hill Group will provide CPHA with a strong and professional base from which to improve its services and expand its delivery of new homes. In these difficult times, it is only through being part of a substantial group that we can provide the homes and services needed by our South London BME communities".

Kate Davies, Chief Executive of Notting Hill, said "by protecting and developing the services of local, community-focussed organisations , Notting Hill plans to create a new base in South London with a special focus on tackling disadvantage, especially within BME communities."

Both Pathway and CPHA will now commence its merger consultation programme with its residents and partners.

From 1 November 2008 Vincent Thomas, previously Head of Project Development at Notting Hill has been appointed to Pathway as interim Chief Executive.
